The poodle is an athletically built dog with a smooth musculoskeletal system and has a coat that grows throughout life. They are extremely intelligent and eager to learn and can therefore be used for sports and work.
The cracker must be social, friendly and free of aggression.
Poodles generally have good health, with the most common hereditary diseases (where tests exist) being tested by recognized breeders.
The poodle is a social dog for humans and animals. They are also very intelligent. A good poodle will please his owner by carrying out assignments. They need a lot and always new challenge in order not to get bored (and then to find a challenge on their own initiative).
Use / functions
Poodles are often used for sports (agility, G & G, doggy dance and hunting) and for work (assistance dogs, blind dogs, diabetic dogs and also they are used, for example, for autistic children and psychological support).
The poodle needs average physical activity. With a well-built condition, however, they can make great efforts.
At least once a day they have to be able to splash for a moment, during which they release a lot of energy in a short time.
The poodle itself is an easy dog ??to keep. Behavior is easy to learn and correct. The coat requires care depending on the chosen model. A show model is very laborious. When a simple model is chosen, the care of the coat is less.
Because the fur continues to grow throughout the life of the poodle, a visit to the grooming salon is required. Poodles are otherwise not trimmed, but cut.
Dealing with children
The poodle is social, also with regard to children. Since selected from the right lines and normally raised, the poodle can handle children very well and is a nice playmate who tolerates a lot. However, protective behavior may possibly arise with regard to the child.
Already in the 16th century mention was made of the “Pfudel”, the first images date from the 17th century.
There are several countries that claimed the poodle as their property (Germany, Russia, France) but in 1936 it was decided that the poodle was a French breed.
At the time of the French empire the poodle was a court dog, which could only be kept by the nobility, but not by the common people. After that time, the poodle was used for various tasks, for example for the water hunt and as police dog.
Elegant, with a smooth musculoskeletal system and the typical dancing poodle run. Long hair.
There are different varieties in height and color, which however all have to meet the same poodle.
The poodle has a narrow skull with a long snout, and long, drooping ears. The body has a length of 110% of the height at the withers. The poodle has cat feet. The dog should be moderately muscled with a firm back and sufficient angulations and chest width, depth and curvature.
There are 2 separate color groups for the Large, Medium, and Miniature Poodle:
– black, white and brown
– apricot, red and gray
For the Toypoedel there is one group in which black, white brown, apricot, red and gray are together.
In addition, the poodle comes in the following, but not recognized, colors: blue, cream, harlequin, black & tan and mauve.
Toy Poodle 23 to 28 inches
Dwarf Poodle 28 to 35 inches
Middle beat Poodle 35 to 45 centimeters
Large Poodle 45 to 62 centimeters
Lifelong growing upper hair without underbust. Due to the absence of an undercoat, the poodle is suitable for pets in some (not all!) Allergies.
Tall, hairy, set high, hanging in peace, standing up in action.
Curl tails and tails hanging next to the body are undesirable.
